Soggy weather has forced us to reschedule the last three movies in our Saturday summer series. Our new schedule is:
July 10 – Jurassic Park
1993 – Rated PG-13 – 2h 6m
In Steven Spielberg's massive blockbuster, paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.
July 17 – Attack the Block
2011 – Rated R – 1h 28m
South London teenagers (John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Leeon Jones) defend their neighborhood from malevolent extraterrestrials in this mashup of comedy, sci-fi, horror and action. A true gem of the creature feature genre.
July 24 – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
1990 – Rated PG – 1h 33m
In New York, mysterious radioactive ooze has mutated four sewer turtles into talking, upright-walking, crime-fighting ninjas. The intrepid heroes -- Michelangelo (Robbie Rist), Donatello (Corey Feldman), Raphael (Josh Pais) and Leonardo (Brian Tochi) -- are trained in the Ninjutsu arts by their rat sensei, Splinter. When a villainous rogue ninja, who is a former pupil of Splinter, arrives and spreads lawlessness throughout the city, it's up to the plucky turtles to stop him. Cowabunga!
We have a new screen and projector and have updated the sound system. The movies are free of charge and begin at sunset, starting with a G-rated cartoon.
Bring a chair or a blanket and some popcorn to the Open Space (32nd Street between Abell & Guilford), and enjoy all the movies.
